Delightful Kids Sandpits with Versatility

Kids love to play; they would play all sorts of items as they have a strong sense of curiosity. Hence, if kids were not given the right tools to play with, they would seek items of play which are dangerous to themselves and others such as matches, electrical outlets and stoves. As infants grow into toddler stage, one of the better choices of play items for these young children is the sandpit.

Kids’ sandpits are common play items in the home with young children below 6 years old; however, kids as old as 10 years may be found at the sandpit for some creativity. There are sand pits which are specifically for kids from 18 months and others for those between 4-6 years old.
A sandpit for kids is very simple in form and structure; yet this simple play tool can be so much fun and very effective in developing the children in various aspects such as mentally, emotionally, socially and physically.

A sandpit is basically a protected platform made from different types of material like wood, plastic or rubber. The most common material for a quality sandpit is premium wood which is FSC certified timber by responsible environmental friendly manufacturer. Such premium wood is strong and sturdy to contain the sand.

Most sandpits for kids may be square but the market is offering all shapes on sandpits; these include round, rectangular, triangle, hexagonal or pentagonal. It depends on the consumer’s preference, expected number of kids playing in it and the available garden space.

Good quality sandpits should have a protective cover as well as a piece of ground sheet to prevent the growth of weeds while containing the sand but allowing water to drain. Different sandpit sizes would require different amount of sand for a good play. Too much or too little sand would not be as much fun as movement can be restricted or creativity is not fully unleashed respectively.

There are creative uses to the sandpit; one can transform a quality sandpit into a kid’s paddling pool with a simple insertion of a pool liner before filling it with some water. This would be a great outdoor play equipment on a hot day when playing in the sand might prove too hot. A cool splash would be more delightful for the children.

The kids’ sandpit can also be transformed into an imaginary fortress or shelter during their creative play. There is no limit to the use of a simple sandpit for children.
